Pakistan’s first ever digital census stopped for one month, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) quoted unavoidable and grounded reasons for delaying the census. The 7th population and housing census was scheduled to start from February 01 but now it is delayed for one month.
The Pakistan Bureau of statistics said that the census will start from March 01 and will continue for one month. The concerned authorities are obliged to submit data by April 30. In October 2021, the previous government delayed the census to 2022 which is again delayed and referred to be done in 2023. But due to some grounded reasons it is delayed for one month.

Census monitoring committee on January 17 decided to delay the field operation in meeting. The meeting was led by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and attended by all members of relevant department and director general of military operation.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) purchased 126,000 tablets for starting digital census with updated software. The 121,000 individuals have been given the tablets. All hardware and software work is ready for ground work, it is also providing the facility for individuals to submit their data online. The training of workers is also completed.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics stated that political reasons are main cause of delaying the census, the country is not doing well in political scenario, so we decided to delay the digital census.
The census was about to begin from Rawalpindi, training of a lot of teachers and clerks was already completed. The Pakistan Bureau of statistics officers completed training in their presence and ordered the workers to complete their duty with full responsibility.
