Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced to launch the most richest T20 Cricket league which needs to be sanctioned by International Cricket Council (ICC) and approved by all the member countries.
The Saudi governmemt announced the Cricket league to rival the most successful cricket league which is Indian Premiere League (IPL) right now.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its step towards expansion in sports also approached the owners of Indian Premiere league to make sure the participation of Indian Players in the upcoming Saudi Cricket league.
IPL owners are yet to respond for this invitation but as per the rules of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Indian players are not allowed to play international T20 competitions of other countries.
The Saudi Cricket need would also need an approval from all the member countries of International Cricket Council (ICC). However, ICC chairman Greg Barclay also confirmed the interest of Saudi Arabia in Cricket.
Saudi Arabia’s Sports Interests
Recently, Saudi Arabia showed a great interest in sports development, from taking Cristiano Ronaldo in their Football league to making a world level Cricket league, country is putting great efforts in sports.
Chairman ICC Greg Barclay said that, “If you look at other sports Saudi Arabia is involved in, Cricket is something that would be attractive to them”. Cricket would quite do well for the country and best to invest in.
Last year, Saudi Arabia’s prince Fahd bin Abdulaziz also highlighted about the importance of Sports and entertainment in playing a key role for Kingdom’s ambitious vision 2030.

It is also worth mentioning here that Saudi Arabia is set to host the FIFA men’s club World Cup this year.
