Pak President Asif Ali Zardari announced that Pakistan’s national awards, the Nishan-i-Pakistan were to be given to 104 individuals consisting of Pakistani nationals and foreigners. The awards were given to the respective persons belonging from the fields of science, engineering, education, medicine, arts, literature, sports, social services, gallantry and services to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Late former President and Prime Minister of Pak, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) is to be awarded the highest civilian award on March 23, 2025. President Zardari also announced the Hilal e Imtiaz award to be given to Olympic Gold Medallist Arshad Nadeem who bagged the medal in the Javelin Throw in Paris Olympics 2024.
Along with him, mountaineer Murad Sadpara also is to be awarded Sitara e Imtiaz in the sports category. The president announced Hilal e Imtiaz for Dr Shahryar and Dr Zaryab Setna and Tamgha e Imtiaz for Dr Akifullah Khan, Dr Syed Abid Mehdi Kazmi and Ikramullah Khan for their contributions in the field of medicine.
Gallantry awards like the Hilal e Shujaat were given to Sub Inspector Taimur Shehzad Shaheed, Sepoy Muhammad Asif Shaheed, Sepoy Muhammad Aijaz Khan, DSP Sardar Hussain Shaheed, DSP Allama Iqbal Shaheed among many others. Malik Shabz Ali Shaheed and Captain Hamza Anjum (Retd) were conferred the Sitaara e Shujaat and the Tamgha e Shujaat was announced for Malik Mahmood Jaan Shaheed, Saeed Khan, Sahib Khan and Dr Shafi Muhammad Bazenjo.
National Awards were given to foreign nationals who made significant contributions to Pakistan. Saudi Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman al Saud received the Hilal e Pakistan, the highest civilian honour given by the Pak government to an individual. The Hilal e Quaid e Azam was given to Fu Zhiheng and Muhammad Saif Al Suwaidi. Other individuals were also present who received awards and medals from President Zardari for their contributions in respective fields of excellence.
