Protest against Outsourcing Airports

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officers and employees union is holding protests against the outsourcing of Pakistani airports. The Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique held talks with the CAA union to solve their issues regarding the decision.

According to the sources, partial progress has been made after the first half of talk between CAA officers and employees with Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

The second meeting between CAA Union and the standing committee of the government will be held soon. The meeting will be led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

The CAA union expressed their concern over the outsourcing during the meeting held at Mayo Garden Lahore. The meeting was attended by the secretary aviation division, aviation minister and DG CAA Khaqan Murtaza.

The Union of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) was represented by Samiullah and others.

Reservations against Outsourcing

Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique invited the heads of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for holding talks with government leadership to solve the issue.

The government committee includes Federal Minister Naveed Qamar, Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, three federal ministers and World Bank’s International Finance Corporation representatives.

The Union of Aviation Authority is currently continuing the protest movement until any written assurance from the federal government about the issue. The CAA employees also threatened to shut down all the operations of airports.

The CAA union also announced the schedule for the next series of protests at different airports of the country. Different rallies will also be organised by union members against the outsourcing.

Protest will he held at Islamabad Airport on August 1, Lahore Airport on August 8 and Karachi Airport on August 17.
