During the moonsoon season of this year, a positive phase in the Indian ocean is expected causing below average rainfall in the country.

The director of Met Office of Pakistan said that country saw a staggering 176% above-average rainfall last year reaching 450% in Balochistan and 425% in Sindh.
2023 Outlook of Moonsoon
This year outlook of regions og Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab are anticipated to receive below-average rainfall. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan may experience rainfall around 10% above normal.
A higher chance of rain mostly occurs when the temperature of Pacific ocean is lower than normal, resulting the formation of La Nina.
