The former Army Chief Pervez Musharraf died at the age of 79 after having bad health condition from few months. Pervez Musharraf served the country as Army Chief for almost 9 years ranging from 1999-2008. After his tenure as Army Chief, he took over the position of President of Pakistan in 2001 and performed his duties till 2008.
Pervez Musharraf was born on 11 August 1943 in pre-partition Delhi. Pervez Musharraf completed his school from Saint Patrick School in Karachi as his family settled in Karachi after partition. He then joined Pakistan military academy Kakul to get military training. He graduated from PMA in 1964 and got a commission in Pakistan Army.
Pervez Musharraf participated in Indo-Pak war of 1965 and also served in Special Services Group from 1966 to 1972. In October 1988, Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef appointed him as the Army Chief of Pakistan. Later he threw the government of Nawaz Shareef and became the country’s president for a long period.

Musharraf’s Presidency tenure
Pervez Musharraf started his regime by forceful 1999 bloodshed coup on Prime Minister’s office. The Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef stopped his plane to land on Karachi airport, to which Pervez Musharraf ordered to cover the Prime Minister office and took over the government.
Musharraf held a general election in 2002, and got the majority of two-third by participating through Mutahida Qoumi Movement (PML-Q) and six religious partied allies. Musharraf passed the 17th amendment of Pakistan’s law and became the president. His presidency faced a lot of challenges including 9/11.
The incident of 9/11 took place after a short time of Musharraf’s Presidency, after which he subsequently started alliance with US as War on Terror, a decision took by Pervez Musharraf. Later in March 2007, Musharraf also suspended Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chohdary, this incident brings out a lot of lawyers and civil society members against the President.

After all these unhandling of situations in country, Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended Pervez Musharraf from his post and again appointed Iftikhar Mehmood Chohdary as Chief Justice of Pakistan. Pervez Musharraf was also named in cases like Benazir Bhutto Murder and Nawab Akbar Bugti’s killing. He was also stopped from going to any foreign country as his name was added in Exit Control List (ECL) in 2013.
The Ex-President’s name was struck off from ECL and he flew away to Dubai in 2016 regarding his medical issues and he never returned to country.
