Shah Mahmood Qureshi explicitly denied meeting the former president Asif Ali Zardari
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), explicitly denied meeting the former president Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday and claimed PTI dissident Raja Riaz was the source of the “false news.”
Mr. Qureshi stated that he could not even contemplate meeting the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Mr. Qureshi claimed that he had skipped Lahore, where Mr. Zardari was staying on Sunday, because he was too busy campaigning for his son in Multan.
It’s interesting to note that earlier this week, Mr. Qureshi claimed that his party was responsible for his failure in the Punjab provincial assembly elections in 2018 during a public speech in his hometown of Multan. He did not, however, blame anyone for his loss.

PTI public meeting in the federal capital
In addition, Mr. Qureshi skipped Saturday’s PTI public meeting in the federal capital. Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, and other party officials spoke at the rally.
Over two dozen PTI MNAs, including Raja Riaz, sided with the opposition and did not back Imran Khan prior to a motion of no-confidence against Mr. Khan in April.
On April 10, 174 of the house’s 342 members voted in favour of the opposition’s no-trust motion against Mr. Khan.
Mr. Riaz was appointed the head of the opposition in the National Assembly as part of the new coalition government formed by the PML-N.
