Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: KP received a record level of tourists, 9.3 mln from May to July in 2024. This was so even though the monstrous rainy season has resulted in making some areas to be prone to cases of landslides and other related disasters. These figures were quoted by the provincial Home and Tribal Affairs Department recently saying that the region is turning into a tourist area. This has increased tourism activity in KP which for long time was a theatre of militant activities.

Surge in Adventure Tourism

It has not left the management of the increased numbers of tourist occasions unaddressed, especially not in the adventure tourism domain. Zahid Chanzeb, the adviser to the KP chief minister on culture and tourism, called on all parties dealing in adventure tourism to get themselves on the provincial government’s official wing for tourist services list. This move is intended to promote effectiveness and safety standards in places frequented by adventure tourists in the area.

Also, Chanzeb directed officials to ensure the provincial website and mobile application had the most recent information. These digital platforms are important tools for prospective visitors to get the latest information on sites of interest, hotels, and circumstances on COVID-19. The emphasis on digital infrastructure also proves that KP cares not only for tourist satisfaction but also for the use of up-to-date technologies.

Promoting Night Tourism

So as to expand the type of tourism in the province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the first time held night tourism in Peshawar this year. The event was held in March and gave tourists the possibility to learn more about the history of the city in the darkness. Initiated by a local organization known as ‘Tour Da Pekhawar’ this was another big step in the province’s tourism plan.

The idea that could be drawn from the night tourism event in Peshawar is that the province has matured for new moves in the tourism sector. KP’s plan is advantageous to the city because it aims at providing new perspectives to view the cultural and historical sites. It not only considers the expansion of the number of hours of tourism but also a perspective towards familiar tourists attraction sites that can assist in increasing the number of visitors as well as the duration in the sites.
