‘Misleading And Incorrect’: Nawaz Sharif Dissociates Himself From ‘Comments’ About PM Shehbaz

Nawaz Shariff Distanced Himself

PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has distanced himself from “negative statements” made about Shehbaz Sharif, his younger brother and the current prime minister, in the hopes that he will help the nation out of its difficult situation.

Nawaz remarked in a late-night tweet on Thursday that “the harsh comments attributed to me regarding PM Shahbaz Sharif are deceptive and inaccurate,” without going into further detail.

The former prime minister continued by expressing his continued optimism that “SS’s (Shehbaz Sharif) earnest and unwavering efforts under the most trying conditions will bear fruit and he will shepherd the country out of the disaster created by Imran Khan.”

Signs of Party Cracking Emerging

Nawaz’s statement comes as signs of a party cracks emerging.

Early indications of the alleged conflict were noted in May, less than two months after the PML-N coalition took office in the wake of the no-confidence vote that resulted in the resignation of former prime minister Imran Khan.

While the new coalition government was floundering in the face of an economic crisis, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, who was formerly thought of as the party supremo’s successor apparent, had openly embraced Imran’s demand for new elections at a rally on May 19 in Sargodha.

Since the beginning of its tenure, the new leadership has faced significant economic difficulties and has been forced to decide between calling early elections and making difficult decisions to prevent the country from defaulting at the expense of its political standing.

Maryam Had Advocated For New Elections

Maryam had advocated for new elections at the Sargodha demonstration rather than burdening the populace with price increases.

She had maintained that while he would bid the government farewell, he would not transfer the country’s financial burden to the populace.

More recently, there have been rumours that Nawaz is furious at the PML-failure N’s in the important by-elections for 20 seats in the Punjab Assembly, which allowed the PTI to defeat his party in the nation’s most populous province.
