Pakistan urges Afghan Taliban authorities to take verifiable action against militant sanctuaries, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The ministry said the Taliban must stop tolerating, facilitating or supporting groups such as the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, the Balochistan Liberation Army and their affiliates from using Afghan soil to launch attacks.
Pakistan Urges Afghan Taliban to Take Verifiable Action
The demand focuses on practical steps rather than statements. Pakistan said its security concerns are backed by assessments from bodies including the United Nations Security Council monitoring team, which gives the request a basis beyond bilateral claims.
Kabul’s Counter-Allegations Rejected
Islamabad rejected statements by Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, who accused Pakistani security agencies of internal failures and claimed involvement in Afghanistan’s domestic violence. Pakistan described the remarks as frivolous, baseless and devoid of any truth, and called them diversionary.
Kabul maintains that it does not allow Afghan territory to be used to threaten neighbouring countries. The exchange follows a surge in cross-border violence and militant attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, alongside recent border clashes and intelligence-based operations, as covered in Pak-Afghan war cross-border strikes escalation.
A Policy Path Built on Verification
Pakistan’s position rests on a clear principle that neighbours should not allow their territory to be used against each other. Verifiable steps would give both sides something concrete to measure, which is more useful than a continuing war of words.
Action against named groups, regular channels of communication and international monitoring would help track progress. Clear, evidence-based engagement offers the most credible route to lower tension and safer communities on both sides of the border.
