Houthis Claim New Attacks On Saudi Arabia’s Oil Facilities And Airports

Houthis claim attacks on Saudi Arabia

The Houthis claim attacks on Saudi Arabia’s East-West crude oil pumping stations and Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, according to Reuters. Saudi Arabia has not confirmed the claims, and the group also said on Saturday that it targeted the pipeline, an Aramco facility in Yanbu and the Rabigh refinery.

Houthis Claim Attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Energy and Aviation Sites

The airport resumed operations at two terminals on Sunday after an earlier attack this month killed 13 people, the deadliest in the kingdom in over a decade. The pipeline matters because it has served as a key export route while the Strait of Hormuz has been largely shut, a point also raised in Saudi Oil Pipeline Expected To Resume Operations Within Days After Drone Disruption.

Saudi-Led Coalition Responds Inside Yemen

The Saudi-led coalition said it destroyed two ballistic missile launchers in Sanaa, including one used to fire a missile towards Riyadh that was intercepted. It later reported destroying five tunnels, four launchers and a missile storage facility, and said its operations aim to protect civilians.

Saudi strikes have intensified since the Houthis captured areas along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, advancing towards the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The fighting has effectively ended the UN-brokered truce that largely held since 2022.

Pakistan’s Role in Regional Coordination

Top officials from the Makkah Defence Alliance partners, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, are reportedly set to meet Iranian officials in Tehran to discuss regional coordination. Two people with knowledge of the matter described it as the first high-level contact between Iran and all three members since the attacks on Saudi Arabia intensified.

Pakistan’s presence at such a table reflects its record of keeping channels open with both Riyadh and Tehran. A diplomatic track that protects shipping routes and civilians would serve Pakistan’s own interests in stable energy supplies, and sustained coordination among the three partners could help prevent a wider conflict.
