PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif agreed Wednesday to bring a no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The sources privy to the matter revealed that a meeting between Asif Ali Zardari, Shahbaz Sharif, and Bilawal Bhutto was convened at the Bilawal House.
It was decided that the Opposition would continue talks with PTI’s allied parties.
On Wednesday, several rounds of delegation-level talks were held between the leaderships of PML-N, PPP, and JUI to discuss the anti-government strategy. After the meetings, all the stakeholders expressed satisfaction over the number game.

The participants of the meetings said that the no-trust motion would be moved against the premier in a few weeks. However, it is pertinent to state that the Opposition has stayed mum on the date for the no-trust motion, saying that it would be finalised by the leadership of the Opposition parties.
The Opposition leaders said they had sufficient numbers to topple the government, even without the support of Imran Khan’s allied parties.
As things stand, it seems that the Opposition would request a session of the National Assembly to expedite the process. As per constitutional rules, the speaker is required to summon a formal session within 14 days of the request. While opposition parties feel they have done their work to bring down the government successfully, a lot can go wrong for them. The government has been able to evade the Opposition’s plans in the Assembly and Senate regarding various crucial legislations, including the State Bank Autonomy Bill and the mini-budget. The ruling party has been successful in dividing the Opposition to hamper their intentions against the government. Last month, Yusuf Raza Gilani resigned from his post of leader of the Opposition after his party was accused of aiding the government in passing the SBP Bill. The government says it is well prepared to combat the Opposition’s potential no-confidence move.
