As part of the US Consulate’s efforts to strengthen people-to-people ties and support local economic development in Pakistan’s tourism industry, United States Consul General to Lahore, William K Makaneole, visited the Sheikhupura district.
US Exports to Pakistan
The leading US exports to Pakistan included agriculture, chemical, and electronic products. Makaneole expressed optimism about expanding bilateral trade to foster mutual economic prosperity.

Engaging with members of the local business community at the chamber of commerce, Makaneole mentioned that the United States has been a leading investor in Pakistan for the past two decades, with investments increasing by 50 per cent in the past year.
He encouraged further investment opportunities and cooperation between the two countries.
Makaneole also visited the historical Hiran Minar, a minaret built during the Mughal era, and expressed the US Mission’s pride in working with local partners to preserve Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).
The AFCP has funded more than 1,000 projects in 133 countries, including 32 cultural preservation projects across Pakistan, with a total funding of $7.6 million.
During his meeting with the Sheikhupura deputy commissioner, Makaneole extended gratitude for hosting the delegation in the district and emphasized the importance of the US-Pakistan partnership in enhancing people-to-people ties between the two nations.
He recognized that as diverse democracies, both countries share substantial interests and values, which reflect in their strong partnership and various forms of cooperation.
