UK unveils new immigration policy for Pakistan

 United Kingdom United Kingdom

The British government announced Wednesday

A new immigration system to make the “best and brightest” visit the UK to work, study, and live.

It would be helpful to the Pakistani students who wish to benefit from the academic opportunities and the UK job market.

“The United Kingdom is committed to strengthening visa routes to facilitate those who wish to travel between the two countries,” said the British Permanent Home Secretary, Matthew Rycroft. It merits mentioning that Rycroft is on a two-day visit to Pakistan. He announced on Wednesday the UK Home Office’s new immigration system to ensure a “level global playing field” for the ones willing to travel to the UK.

Rycroft said that the Pakistani students would benefit from the graduate routes. “It provides an excellent opportunity to those willing to enter the UK job market,” Rycroft said.

The Secretary said that the Home Office ensures an immigration system that offers “amazing opportunities to the best and brightest” from Pakistan to enter the UK to work, study, and live.

Rycroft also held meetings at the Ministry of Interior, linked agencies and discussed the shared priorities to affirm bilateral ties. He also spoke about the challenges affecting operational cooperation and highlighted areas of mutual interest to expand collaboration.

Mentioning the ground-breaking collaboration between the Pakistani authorities and the Metropolitan Police last year, Rycroft expressed his desire to work “more closely” with the government of Pakistan to cater to shared threats and bring criminals to justice.

“We set up a system that resulted in getting justice for the murder of Dr Imran Farooq.”

On the developments in Afghanistan, Rycroft said various security issues, including smuggling, human trafficking, narcotics smuggling, human trafficking, and illicit finance, are challenging the region.
