Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced that new features are coming in Twitter and it will also allow direct calls and encrypted messages coming to the platform.
The “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App” would have features like encrypted messages and longform tweets, and voice, video calls to anyone, anywhere in the world without giving phone numbers.

Meta’s Social Media Features
Allowing the call and encrypted messages feature, Twitter will get into same line as Meta’s social media apps Instagram and Facebook which have similar features of audio, video calls and encrypted messages.
Elon Musk said that, encrypted messages feature is already up for users on Twitter but he did not mentioned about calls, calls will be encrypted or not that is yet to be decide.

Twitter also announced that it will start a cleansing process against accounts that are inactive and logged out for several years. The accounts will be removed or archived from the platform.
