A Significant Milestone in the battle against polio is on the horizon as Sindh prepares to launch a comprehensive seven-day anti-polio campaign commencing from Monday.
The provincial task force on polio eradication has announced Ambitious plans to immunize over 10.6 million children across Sindh during the upcoming week-long drive. This concerted effort underscores the Province’s Commitment to Eradicating Polio and ensuring the Health and well-being of its young Population.
In Preparation for the Campaign the Provincial task force convened a meeting in Karachi to review and finalise the Necessary arrangements. Stringent measures have been put in Place to ensure the Smooth Execution of the Vaccination Programme with Health authorities and frontline workers Mobilised for maximum Coverage.
The Urgency of the anti-polio Campaign is underscored by recent Developments including the Confirmation of Poliovirus Presence in Sewage samples from Lasbela District Balochistan. Ministry of Health Sources Revealed the detection of Type-1 Wild Poliovirus (WPV1) in Sewage samples Collected from the District, indicating the Persistent threat Posed by the virus.
Genome Sequencing of the Virus Revealed its Origin in Gadap Karachi, Highlighting the interconnectedness of Poliovirus transmission across different Regions. The findings Serve as a stark reminder of the importance of Sustained Vaccination efforts to Prevent outbreaks and Safeguard Communities against the Debilitating effects of Polio.
Last Month the Ministry of Health Confirmed the Presence of Poliovirus in environmental Samples from Nine Districts across the Country further Underscoring the need for Robust immunization Campaigns to curb the Spread of the Disease.
