However, it’s important to be aware of common mistakes that buyers tend to make during Prime Day. Here are some of helpful tips to avoid the errors during shopping.

  1. Not considering the Prime Visa credit card: If you’re shopping on Amazon, using the Prime Visa credit card can be beneficial. It offers strong cashback potential at Amazon and Whole Foods, and there is no annual fee.
  2. On Prime Day, you can earn 6% cash back on your purchases and 5% cash back on all purchases made on Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and through Chase Travel.

Additionally, you can earn 2% cash back at gas stations, restaurants, and drugstores, and 1% on other purchases.

  1. Paying the annual Prime fee without considering alternatives: Prime Day sales are exclusive to Prime members, but you can explore alternatives to paying the $139 annual fee.

If you haven’t been a member in the last 12 months or it’s your first time using Prime, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial. College students can also enjoy a free six-month trial with Amazon Prime Student. Use a valid credit card or Venmo account for this purpose.

If you don’t have access to a free trial, you can offset the cost of your first year of Prime membership by using the Prime Visa card, which provides a $200 Amazon.com gift card upon approval with no spending requirements.

These sales don’t require any membership. Target offers discounts on items from both Target and national brands like Dyson and Keurig, with discounts of up to 50%. Additionally, Target RedCard users can enjoy an extra 5% off.

Walmart also offers deals exclusively for members starting on July 10, with discounts on home items, apparel, and more.

Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard holders can receive an additional 5% off.

  1. Not doing price research: Before making a purchase, conduct thorough price research and compare prices with other retailers. Not all deals on Prime Day are necessarily the best ones available.
  2. Not making a shopping list: It’s essential to create a list before shopping on Prime Day and stick to it. This will save you time and energy and prevent you from endlessly scrolling and potentially overspending.
