Russia and Ukraine swapped prisoners yet again. This time, the swap was of 190 prisoners of war. Each received back 95 of its people. The United Arab Emirates played a role in getting this done.
Leaders Confirm the News
That news was confirmed by both. And the Russian Defense Ministry stated just that on Telegram. So too, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
The Russians slated for release will all return to Moscow. They will all receive medical treatment and quiet rest. Individual branch military personnel from the respective countries will provide soldiers to repatriate the prisoners in Ukraine.
UAE Plays a Big Role
Zelenskiy thanked the UAE for helping. This isn’t the first time the UAE has helped. They’ve helped with five prisoner swaps this year. In January, they helped free 230 Ukrainians and 248 Russians. In February, 100 prisoners from each side went home. Last month, 90 from each country were swapped.
Talking About Families
People who work to protect rights in Russia and Ukraine were there during the swap. They talked about helping families get back together. This is important because many families have been separated by the war.
Children Brought to Russia
Ukraine believes that Russia captured lots of Ukrainian children who were brought to Russia. On the contrary, Russia believes they took the children to protect them. Some children came back not long ago to Ukraine.
Serious Danger for Russian Leader
All this is considered very awful for Russia to take children out of the country. Therefore, this will cause some Russian higher-ups to face trouble if they need to visit another country.
