PM Khan To Address Nation Today On Covid-19

Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the nation today to inform them of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country and sensitize the nation about the government’s way forward to deal with the second wave of Covid-19.

PM Khan will address the nation after chairing the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting today where he will receive a briefing on the rising number of Coronavirus cases and the government’s strategy so far.

In view of the deteriorating situation of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, PM Imran Khan is reviewing the national strategy to curb the spread of the virus.

As per the sources privy to information, the NCOC meeting will be attended by officials from the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) and the Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination. They will discuss the growing trend of COVID-19 infections across the country.

As per the official statistics, around 2,954 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours across the country taking the total to 379,883. Meanwhile, with 48 new deaths, the country’s coronavirus death toll reached 7,744.

So far, as many as 331,760 people have recovered from the virus while the active number of cases at the moment stands at 40,379. With 39,165 tests conducted across the country, the total positivity rate has reached 7.5pc.

Sindh has been one of the worst-hit provinces during the second Covid-19 wave. The Sindh government had failed to take pre-emptive action to contain the second wave but only recently announced the lockdowns and curbed business timings in the province.

PM Khan is reportedly going to ask the citizens to follow the standard operating procedures and warn of an imminent lockdown that will hit the economy hardest.
