Karachi authorities, including Karachi traffic police, have been conducting a hard campaign against underage drivers, unlicensed motorists and dangerous practices such as triple riding to improve road safety across the city. To monitor traffic rule violations, the Traffic Police and Excise Department have set up checking teams in the residential areas and major roads.
Violations: Strict Penalties Enforced
Drivers who drive without a proper licence face large fines. PKR 20,000 fine for motorcyclists without licences, PKR 30,000 fine for car drivers
Officials are also taking a zero-tolerance approach to underage driving. Vehicles driven by those below 18 years can be immediately impounded, and further challans and legal action can be initiated.
Joint Liability shows parents or vehicle owners can be held liable for letting minors drive without a valid license.
Rigorous Monitoring Of Triple Riding
Traffic police are closely monitoring motorbike riders flouting rules on the number of passengers they can carry. Triple riding is considered very dangerous because it affects the balance of the vehicle and increases the risk of accidents.
Authorities have warned that motorcycles carrying more than two people may be confiscated, and offenders face hefty fines.
Drivers Must Carry Important Documents
Motorists have been advised to carry their valid driving licenses, registration papers and Computerised National Identity Cards while travelling, officials said.
The campaign is a testament to Karachi’s commitment to improving traffic discipline and reducing road accidents. Authorities hope that greater awareness and stricter enforcement will lead to better road safety and more responsible driving in the country’s largest city. Visit The Pakistan for more updates.
