All the legal and administrative hurdles from Islamabad Food Authority has been removed and authority is likely to start its work from 1st of March. The preparation of budget, appointment of staff, and all the inside process will be completed in few days and it will start working from March to make sure the availability of clean and hygienic food in Islamabad.
Meanwhile a new laboratory for food testing will also be established in Capital of Pakistan, as there is currently no laboratory to examine food samples. The concerned authorities started working for establishment laboratory in short time period.

Food Authority bill passed
It is here to be mentioned that former Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef ordered the establishment of food authority in 2017. Prime Minister directed the CDA Chairman Ansar Sheikh to start working on food authority in federal capital.
The bill on establishment of food authority is passed in 2020 by National Assembly explain the responsibilities of Food Authority. Food authority was directed to monitor the quality of food along with prices and to maintain the quality of drinks available in markets of federal capital Islamabad. A pilot street food safety program (PSFSP) was also launched in Islamabad to ensure the safety of street food quality.
A concerned official told media that all the process for food authority has been completed whether it’s legal or administrative. We will announce further details in upcoming days and authority will start its working from first of next month.

New vehicles are also purchased for food authority department that will help in conducting immediate raids and carry out the materials from super markets and commercial stores. The authority is making sure to work properly and help the citizens in maintaining their hygiene and food quality.
