Grammys: Arooj Aftab Nominated For Best Global Music Performance Yet Again

Arooj Aftab Nominated For Best Global Music Performance

Arooj Aftab Grammy

You better believe a Grammy nomination for artist Arooj Aftab will materialise. The singer, who made history by becoming the first Pakistani to win a Grammy last year, has received a second nomination for her duet “Udhero Na” with Anoushka Shankar in the category of Best Global Music Performance.

List of Complete Nominations on Instagram

Aftab announced the news via The New York Times list of complete nominations on Instagram on Wednesday.

To encourage her, actor Sarwat Gilani stopped by the comment section and commented, “You go girl.” There were also comments from American singer Jessica Betts, Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes, Rachel Eckroth, Priyanka Bose, Priya Darshini, Poorna Jagannathan, and other actors and musicians.

Aftab wrote in another post, “Oh my God! A Grammy nomination has been made for “Udhero Na.” Congratulations to Maeve Gilchrist, Nadje Noordhuis, Anoushka Shankar, and me. A song that I penned when I was 15 is played by four fierce ladies as it begins to bloom. I’m therefore feeling a lot of emotion, joy, and, I dunno, just, I don’t even know. I’m in a ship’s hall, and in about 20 minutes, the show will begin. This is fantastic, however I’m not sure how I’m going to pull that off. Thank you, then.

Third Straight Grammy

Actress Ushna Shah remarked on the actor’s video and questioned whether the nominated song, “Udhero Na,” is an older song and whether “Bolo Na” will eventually be re-released for a third straight Grammy. She wrote, “Bring ’em all home, superstar!”

Dr. Mehrub Moiz Awan, an advocate for transgender rights, pianist Meritxell Neddermann, Spanish vocalist Marta Sánchez, and others all left comments on the post.

The songs “Gimme Love” by Matt B and Eddy Kenzo, “Last Last” by Burna Boy, “Neva Bow Down” by Rocky Dawuni and Blvk H3ro, and “Bayethe” by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode have all been nominated in the same category.

Beyonce, the pop icon who topped the list of nominees for the Grammy Awards, will compete for Album Of The Year, the highest honour, against Adele, Harry Styles, and other artists.

Who Else Has Gotten The Grammy?

Beyonce received nine nominations for the most prestigious music awards. She now has 88 nominations overall, which ties her with her husband Jay-Z for the most nominations in Grammy history.

With Adele’s 30, Harry’s House from Styles, Special from Lizzo, and entries from ABBA, Bad Bunny, Mary J. Blige, Brandi Carlile, and Coldplay, her dance-focused record Renaissance will compete for album of the year.
