Federal Cabinet is set to approve the formation of the Auction Advisory Committee
On Friday, the Federal Cabinet is set to approve the formation of the Auction Advisory Committee, which would monitor the spectrum auctions for Pakistan’s next-generation mobile services (NGMS). This committee will include officials from GHQ and ISI.
The Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has already given its approval for the formation of the Auction Advisory Committee, which will supervise any spectrum sales for NGMS. On Friday, the federal cabinet will meet, and Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, will preside.
In order to oversee the spectrum auctions for Pakistan’s NGMS, the ECC had received a report from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication regarding the formation of the Auction Advisory Committee. Miftah Ismail, the finance minister, who presided over the ECC meeting, thought about and approved the report.

Release Of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) Spectrum in Pakistan
An advisory committee on the “Release Of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) Spectrum in Pakistan for Improvement of Mobile Broadband Services amid COVID-19” was established by the Federal Government in October 2020. The committee was later revised in March 2021 to include representatives from AJ&K and GB.
After the Federal Cabinet approved the Economic Coordination Committee’s (ECC) resolution to approve the Committee’s policy recommendations, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoIT&T) released the directive on August 4, 2021.
