FIFA announced 20,000 complimentary tickets for Women World Cup in New Zealand, the tickets will be free for games taking place in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Dunedin.
The free tickets decision comes as a response to the claim regarding the slow pace of ticket sales in New Zealand.
The co-host Austrakia has already sold the majority of tickets as their team the ‘Matildas’ is considered as one of the strong contenders for the title. However, New Zealand is experiencing a slower pace in ticket sales.
One of the main reasons of New Zealand experiencing slower pace is that the ‘Football Ferns’ of New Zealand has not yet won a single match in their five previous World Cup appearances.
Former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern also took it to social media to generate interest in the tournament. She expressed her excitement in an Instagram post about hosting such a great event.
