Saudi Arabia Houthi strikes intensified on Wednesday, with the Iran-backed group claiming an attack on the Aramco headquarters in Dhahran. Saudi authorities said an administrative building was targeted, causing a limited fire, and no injuries were reported there.
Saudi Arabia Houthi Strikes Raise Regional Concern
The Saudi-led coalition also said it intercepted and destroyed three cruise missiles and two drones aimed at the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia. At least four people were injured by falling debris, which shows the strength of the kingdom’s air defences in limiting wider damage.
Escalation Across Airports, Energy and Yemen
The exchange follows a week of attacks that shut Riyadh’s main international airport, and the smoke and flight disruption near Riyadh airport drew wide attention. Saudi Arabia struck a fuel depot in Yemen on Tuesday, saying it supported Houthi attacks on airports, energy facilities and Red Sea shipping.
Yemen’s government has said it is not seeking a ceasefire and will press ahead with its “Dawn of Yemen” offensive. The World Food Programme has warned that fighting has cut assistance to about 800,000 people, adding a serious humanitarian dimension to the conflict.
Pakistan Stands With Riyadh
Pakistan has consistently shown solidarity with Saudi Arabia, and its vow to defend Saudi Arabia reflects a long-standing brotherly partnership. Reports also point to a possible larger deployment of 25,000 troops, underlining the depth of defence cooperation.
Public sentiment has mirrored that bond, as seen in the ISPR song marking Saudi National Day, and Saudi concerns after the drone interception near Makkah have strengthened the case for close coordination, and Pakistan’s steady diplomacy positions it as a trusted partner for regional stability.
