Pakistan Weather Alert for May 2026: Hot and Dry Conditions Expected Nationwide — Cities Most Likely to Be Affected

Pakistan weather alert 2026

Public health and safety concerns are dangerously great due to the increasing temperatures all around Pakistan under the Pakistan weather alert 2026 conditions. Therefore, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issues advisories across the country on prolonged hot and dry weather conditions. Scattered rain and hailstorm still occurring in the upper and northern areas. Much of southern and central Pakistan is under intense heat pressure.

Authorities say increasing temperatures in several urban and rural areas, especially in Sindh, southern Punjab and parts of Balochistan, are creating difficult daytime conditions. Dry weather conditions and urban extreme temperatures are causing concerns for dehydration, exhaustion from heat, and public health safety.

Sindh Cities Among the Most Affected Areas

Sindh continues to be one of the worst-affected provinces in the prevailing heatwave conditions. Daytime temperatures continue to be intense in major cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Nawabshah along with persistent dry weather.

Urban heat stress is particularly severe in densely populated areas with concrete infrastructure and limited airflow that continue to exacerbate temperature levels. People in these cities are being advised to reduce their time spent outdoors unnecessarily during the heat of the afternoon.

The prolonged hot spell is also increasing pressure on electricity usage and water consumption across several districts in the province.

Southern Punjab and Balochistan Continue Facing Heat Pressure

Isolated rainfall activity in the north has not been sufficient to arrest the rise in temperatures in the southern and central districts of Punjab. Hot and dry conditions largely persisted in Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan cities.

Very high temperatures are being recorded in the southern and central districts of Balochistan, including Turbat and Sibbi. Desert winds and limited precipitation are also influencing these areas and will keep the daytime heat extreme.

NDMA Advises Citizens to Take Precautions

NDMA keeps advising the citizens across Pakistan to remain vigilant under prevailing heatwave conditions. Public advisories suggest people stay hydrated, stay out of direct sun during the hottest part of the day and be extra careful with the elderly, children and those with medical conditions.

The public is also encouraged to stay updated through official weather notifications and disaster alerts issued through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App and other government information channels.
