Toshakhana Case against Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari began to dig out in 2019 and they both were alleged and a case had been filed at the Accountability Court in Islamabad for keeping the luxury cars from the government’s treasury which was gifted by the Foreign governments, the UAE and Libya.
On Thursday (December 12, 2024) The Judge Abida Sajjad went through all the records and the extensive arguments of the defence and NAB which took place on September 21, 2024. Following that, the Islamabad Accountability Court has denied the plea to transfer their Toshakhana case to FIA of Former Pakistan PM Nawaz and Pakistan’s President Zardari. During the hearing the solicitor of the accused underpinned the amendments of NAB (National Accountability Bureau) that the corruption cases which exceed PKR 500 million will fall under the investigation of NAB. The Toshakhana Case against Nawaz, Yousuf Raza, and Zardari is estimated as PKR 80.5 million which is less than the amendment of NAB. So, they requested the Court to transfer the case to the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency).
Judge Abida Sajjad raised questions against the lawyer of the defence that this amendment has been agreed completely by all the parties for which he replied that President Zardari doesn’t have the presidential power when the case was brought forward. One of the important judgments which was on September 6, 2024 by SC that restored the NAB amendment bill by accepting the appeal of the Federal Government has been quoted during the hearing.
