A religious event Besakhi, a mark of New Year beginning for Sikh people all around the world is on its way. All the Sikh community is set to celebrate the beginning of their New Year. Pakistani Sikh community is on its full swing for celebrating their New Year with full joy and happiness.
The grand event of Besakhi would be held in Gurduwara Punja Sahib in Hassan Abdal. The newly appointed first female Hindu Commissioner of Hassan Abdal, Sana Ramchand talked to media regarding the celebrations.

She said that all the preparations are complete and this grand event will show a positive image of Pakistan to the world. Pakistan is free country and it gives all the rights to minorities regarding their religious and social rights.

A large number of Sikh devotees visit Gururdwara Punja Sahib every year from around the world, and all kind of facilities are provided to them during their visit to Sikh Holy place. She said that last year, alone 2100 Sikh people visited Pakistan from India through special trains operated via Wagah border. They visited Sikh Holy places and celebrated their New Year.
Regarding the annual festival, Evacuee Trust Property and Pakistan Gurdwara Committee is ordered to renovate all the Sikh Religious places in the city. The Besakhi celebrations will be starting from April 10th. The Deputy Commissioner also talked about current circumstances of the country saying that Pakistan is our homeland and we must overcome the difficulties for its prosperous future.
Speaking about the ongoing digital census, she said that all the preparations are begun regarding the census and we are achieving the goal with good results still public cooperation is the mandatory thing we need to fulfill our objective.

She added that our teachers and workers are responsible and they carried out full efforts in completing the census. She urged the public to maintain positive attitude towards them and cooperate in a good manner. The participation and cooperation of public is a necessary thing to plan country’s future, she added.
