Today, the Prime Minister’s Office
(PMO) is set to hold a condolence reference for the late Sri Lankan national Priyantha Kumara — the man lynched and burnt by a mob in Sialkot.
The condolence reference will be marked by laying a floral wreath on the deceased’s portrait. The Government of Pakistan is holding the event in solidarity with Priyantha Kumara’s family and the Sri Lankan government and nation.
According to media reports, members of the Federal Cabinet will attend the event. Moreover, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner, members of various think tanks, religious scholars, academicians, and celebrities will also be present.
In addition, an award would be conferred to Malik Adnan — Kumara’s associate who had tried his utmost to shelter him from the vigilante mob.
On Sunday, PM Imran Khan said he wanted to salute Adnan on the moral courage and bravery that he displayed.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill also lauded Adnan for his unprecedented bravery.
“Adnan is staying at the PMO tonight as his special guest,” Gill tweeted.
He said Adnan is our pride and the whole nation expressed their pride in him. It merits mentioning that PM Khan has already named him for ‘Tamgha-i-Shujaat’.
Gill said the bravery of Adnan would be appreciated in a function scheduled to be held today at the PM’s Office.
According to media reports, Adnan has been an employee in the factory for 16 years. Meanwhile, the late Sri Lankan manager was there for the last seven years.
A mob of hundreds of protestors had tortured Kumara to death on Friday over blasphemy allegations.
Kumara’s remains were flown to Sri Lanka with state honours on Monday.
An FIR was registered against 900 workers under Sections 427, 431, 157, 302, 297, 201, 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 11WW of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
