PM Imran shared scenic photos of first-ever ski traverse in Deosai aimed at boosting winter tourism
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday shared some spectacular pictures of the first-ever winter skiing in snow-covered Deosai plains. Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister stated that the government is working on boosting winter tourism and ski resort feasibility in the first-ever ski traverse in the snowy mountainous range of Deosai plains.
In the pictures, a number of people can be seen enjoying skiing and camping in the snow-clad Deosai plateau.
“Exploring winter tourism and ski resorts feasibility, Deosai plains first-ever winter ski traverse,” the Premier, wrote in his tweet.

Located at an average elevation of 4,114 metres above sea level in Gilgit Baltistan, the Deosai plains are regarded as the second-highest plateaus in the world.
Recently, the Tourism Department of Gilgit Baltistan organised a ski traverse event at the Deosai National Park with the aim of promoting tourism in the breathtaking mountainous region.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran, the Pakistan government is working towards expanding the tourism sector in order to attract more tourists from various countries around the world.
Addressing a recent webinar on Pakistan Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Chairman of the National Tourism Coordination Board, underlined that Pakistan has a lot of beautiful destinations to offer to tourists coming to the country from across the world.
“Pakistan is an exotic tourist destination. It offers mountains, deserts, beaches, ancient Hindu civilization, the largest sleeping Buddha, Oldest Churches, Sufi sites, and much more. Combined with these, the hospitality of the people of Pakistan is unmatchable. We invite the world to come and explore Pakistan,” Bukhari noted.
He also highlighted that Pakistan is home to 5 of the 14 highest mountain peaks in the world.
“The first base camp of K2 is 5200 metre, much higher than many mountain peaks in the world. The other mountain peaks include Gasherbrum, Broad Peak, and Nanga Parbat,” he added. As per reports, the Prime Minister has launched a number of tourism-related initiatives in Pakistan with the aim of increasing the tourism sector’s annual contribution to the country’s GDP to around 10 percent.
