The International Hockey Federation (FIH) granted Pakistan the rights of hosting eight-nation Hockey competition for the 2024 Hockey Olympics going to be held on January 13-21, 2023.
Lahore will alone host the qualifying competition of hockey for the Paris Olympics 2024, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan also expressed his wish that some of the matches should also be played in Karachi.

The Sindh Governor made the special remarks with Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary General Haider Hussain about the plan of matches in Karachi.
The governor said, “It is an honour for Pakistan to host the Olympics Qualifier event for the Paris Olympics 2024. He said that the PHF should try to hold one or two matches of the Olympics Qualifying round in Karachi.
Hockey Trials in Lahore
The Pakistan Hockey Federation will send the final 18 names of Pakistan’s senior hockey team to the Asian Games Committee. The last date for sending final names of players was July 14, 2023.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation is also organising trials in Lahore for two days to select the team for Asian Champions Trophy and Asian Games. Pakistan will participate in the upcoming Asian Games in September.

Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary General said, “It’s an honour for us to get the hosting rights of an international event. After the 1990’s Hockey World Cup, we are going to host an international event which will have eight teams. I hope the excitement and curiosity would be the same as it was back then”.
