The continued aid efforts have been sent to Lebanon from the United Arab Emirates with 37 tonnes of provisions for children and women. The latest move is from the ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign which was launched under the directives of the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The aid is supposed to help Lebanese citizens facing a humanitarian crisis currently.

Political Stability, Pledge, and Endorsement for Lebanon

The UAE’s support has not wavered; the total aid provided to Lebanon includes 375 tons of food, medical equipment, children’s necessities, and sheltering items. This support is in line with the vision of the UAE as a nation that seeks to foster world peace and order, especially in the course of calamities and disasters.

Her Excellency Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation also stressed the fact that this aid confirms the UAE leadership’s constant donating towards the humanitarian crises. The initiative reflects friendly relations between the two countries.

Scholarship Grant and Future Intention

The UAE President has allocated $100m for humanitarian aid to Lebanon, in addition to $30m for Lebanese refugees in Syria. This financial support supplements the ongoing humanitarian aid, which proves that the UAE is concerned about the situation in every possible direction.

The launch of the ‘#UAE_Stands_With_Lebanon’ campaign involved many International organizations such as UNHRD/WFP, WHO, UNHCR, UNICEF, and IFRC. This campaign is evidence that the entire world is aware of the situation in Lebanon and the UAE is facilitating the process of responding to this situation.

Humanitarian aid to Lebanon has been a major part of the UAE’s foreign policy since the early 70s. Before this recent drive, the UAE has provided large sums of aid during different disasters. For instance in August 2020 when the Beirut port explosion happened, the UAE without delay provided medical essentials in the form of 30 tonnes and set up a field hospital. Also, the UAE has always backed up education and healthcare in Lebanon financially and through supplies during economic crises and the coronavirus outbreak. These continued support the UAE’s continued stand in assisting the Lebanese people.
