Supreme Court Adjourns PTI's Petition for May 9 Riots Commission

Five Supreme Court judges including Justice Amin Ud Din Khan postponed their evaluation of PTI’s petition to create a new court to study the May 9 riots. The law court expressed problems about accepting the petition and reviewing its linked documents.

Justice Mazhar suspended the section about civilian-military court trials from the case because these trials are progressing separately through separate processes. The justice panel doubted if creating a judicial commission belongs in Article 184 Section 3. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail directed PTI’s lawyer Hamid Khan to produce proof of death for civilians who lost their lives during protests while Justice Amin Ud Din Khan wanted to know about any civilian death investigations through private complaints or police reports.

The Supreme Court permits PTI more time to bring forward essential evidence before the next court date. PTI wants an independent judge to examine all events from the May 9 riots which started after Pakistan made major political alterations.
