Section 144 has been imposed a day before the Public gathering in Rawalpindi. Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) is a common legal process which is used to constrain the public assemblies for a limited period. (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) PTI’s Chairman Gohar Ali Khan announced in a press conference that a rally would be held in Rawalpindi on September 28 & 29 by his party members and supporters. The rally takes place in support of their leader Imran Khan, to show their party’s influence and power among the citizens of Pakistan, the (NOC) no-objection certificate which must be granted by the Punjab government and more. 

To seek permission for the rally on September 28 & 29, the PTI went to the Deputy Commissioner’s office but later they withdrew it. A PTI lawyer said they are withdrawing the plea seeking permission to hold a rally on Saturday. 

“You are withdrawing the plea after filing it? Tomorrow is your rally in Rawalpindi, right?” Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz questioned.

“The deputy commissioner is delaying the issue. So, the PTI, on its leadership’s instruction, has decided to withdraw its plea” said the PTI lawyer to the question raised by Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz.

Concurrently, the leader of the opposition party, Omar Ayub Khan has uploaded a video on his X account,

“I urge you all to come out in great numbers to Liaquat Bagh at 2 pm. We will have a gathering, it is our legal and constitutional right”.

Section 144 has also been imposed in Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock for maintaining law and order. Several roads have been blocked with containers and a tight security lockdown has been implemented to avoid extreme risks in the public places. Roads which have been blocked are Attock bridge, Fateh Jang, Wah Garden, T-Chowk, Faizabad, Mandra, Chakwal Mor, 26 number Chungi, Park Road, Kalma Chowk, Tench Bata, Mandir Mor, and Fourth Avenue. 

It is reported that the rally will be led by Ali Amin Gandhapur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM, also many other supporters will join from the other districts. Meanwhile, Punjab government Spokesperson Azma Bukhari has warned that anyone from the rally who disturbs the peace, security and stability of the people and the province, then they will be handled with strict law enforcements.
