“I am all set to listen to everyone but people should keep in mind why this all happened,” he said. “If anyone has any reservations or grievances, we can have a look into it.”

He said that the government probed into the sugar scam through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which brought forth a startling report showing how the mill owners had minted money by evading taxes and increasing the prices.

The prime minister reiterated his stance of having the same law for the poor and the rich. He said that there could not be different laws for the powerful and weak as this is how destruction in a society occurs. He linked the progress and prosperity of a nation with the rule of law and its application to everyone. Replying to a question regarding the grant of bail to Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Khan said the corrupt rulers had stolen billions of rupees from the national kitty. “There is irrefutable evidence about their corruption but unless our society decides to grip the corrupt, no change can take place,” he said, asking, “Name a country where rule of law is prevalent and it is still reeling in poverty?”
