President Alvi asked election commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce the date of election immediately. He said that it is the fundamental duty of ECP to conduct election in time of need. He added that serious results will be shown if there is more delay in elections.
President secretariat released the press release appealing Chief Election Commission Pakistan Sikandar Sultan Raja to announce the final date of elections, as it is the violation of law that they delay the dates. The president explained the article 224(2) that elections to be held in 90 days of dissolution of assemblies. He said that ECP should focus on elections as their primary job.

President’s letter to ECP
The President in his letter also reminded about the history that previous democracies never delayed the elections even in the situations of wars. He also mentioned the American leader Abraham Lincoln who went for elections despite ongoing war in country.
President Alvi asked the ECP to announce the date for election and put a top to this manipulative agenda of ongoing political conflicts in country. He added that democracy can only be saved if there will be timely election in country.
The country’s largest provinces Punjab and KPK are working under the caretaker government, any delay in elections are not good for economy and it will also affect the international relation of Pakistan.

He added that country is currently going through severe crises and we should make it stable in terms of political situation as well as to save country from any terrorist activity it is necessary to hold elections as soon as possible.
