A shocking incident happened in the capital of Pakistan where security is good and people feel protected, on February 2nd, two armed men raped a girl in Public Park. The news got viral on social media and people started criticizing the security forces of Islamabad. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority stopped all the private news channels from airing any news about this incident.
The victim registered the FIR in Margalla police station under section 376 (punishment for rape). According to the FIR registered, the victim went to park along with her colleague and two armed men harassed them and raped the girl saying that they should not come to park at this hour.
Notification issued by PEMRA
In a notification issued by PEMRA, they sent a notice to some TBV channels prohibiting them to not on air any news on this incident as they revealing the identity of victim in their news reports. According to PEMRA, this is violation of clause 8 of PEMRA according to code of conduct of 2015.
PEMRA wrote in the notice that license of these TV channels will be suspended without any notice of they continue to on air any news on this incident.
Taking notice on the incident, the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani directed the police to investigate the incident and submit a report within 24 hours. Police yet not arrested any culprit but issued a sketch of one the person. The forensic team also visited the park to collect any more evidences.

The case is still on top nudge on social media as people are shocked and sad about the incident. People are commenting that we are not well enough safe in our capital city not even in our houses and not even in parks. Police directed the public to avoid going to the park for some time, to which people are angry as if it is the solution to the problem.
