Pakistan will be without their numero uno seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi during the second test match of the ICC WTC against Bangladesh. The pace attack would be led by Naseem Shah, Khurram Shehzad, and Mohammed Ali. Left arm pacer Mir Hamza comes in place of Afridi. Hamza was last seen in the Australia series last year.
Leg spinner Abrar Ahmed has been recalled and could feature in the playing 11. Pakistan’s home record is not at all good. They have lost all 9 home test match serieses since 2021 and after the loss of the first match against Bangladesh, they would like to bounce back and at least level the series.
Pakistan has got a newly appointed head coach in the form of Jason Gillespie. He revealed that Shaheen and Gillespie had a long conversation about his tactics and why he had been left out of the team.
Gillespie added, “Afridi has been working on his bowling to be as effective as possible. He is really working hard with Azhar Mahmood. We want to see Shaheen at his best because we have got a lot of cricket in all formats and Shaheen is going to play a big role in it.”
