One Pakistani Confirmed Dead in Greek Boat Capsize, 47 Rescued

A tragic boat capsized at sea near Crete, Greece, with one Pakistani dead and 47 Pakistani migrants rescued alive. The tragic incident which happened near the island of Gavdos has already been addressed by Pakistani authorities, people of Pakistan have organized a special cell in embassy and also crisis management unit for the survivors and their families.

It should be noted that the Pakistani Foreign Office has been quite busy in managing the consequences of the event. A special cell has been set up at the Pakistani embassy in Greece and the Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is personally supervising this situation. Some officials have arrived in Crete to help the evacuated immigrants and cooperate with the Greek Coast Guard to collect additional information about the disaster.

The Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured to arrest the human smuggling racket and condoles with the families of the deceased. The Pakistani survivors’ list was published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it is using its Crisis Management Unit to address requests. First of all Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed an investigation be made on the incident and has constituted a committee to find out how the boat overturned.
