Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon banned the use of smartphones for police soldiers and officers while on duty. A notification has been sent to all the police officers writing that it had been noticed that police officers were using mobile phones during the duty hours and it is clearly restricted by the senior departments.
The notification added that clear directions in this regard have been ordered to all the offices and should be followed without any laziness. The IGP Sindh further warned that strict action would be taken against all the police offices and police workers who found violating the orders.

The letter also read that it is responsibility of field formations to get these instructions immediately implemented with strong spirit.
Attack on Karachi Police Office
This order came following the devastating attack on Karachi Police Office (KPO) last week in which 5 police officers lost their lives including 16 more are injured.
The direction to quit using smartphones during hours will strict and regulate the security concern of the province as well as it will not divert the attention of police workers during their duty hours.

The IGP Sindh said that we are strictly concern about saving the province from any kind of terrorism or harsh incident. Taking further measures in this regard is also expected. All the police officials are directed to regulate their laws and make strict action against any kind of violation in the department.
