multiple arrests take place as islamabad police crackdown on ji sit in report
The Islamabad Police have arrested various participants of the Jamaat-e-Islami Group who were involved in a sit-in in the D Chowk of the Capital city. Efforts are ongoing to detain more individuals by the city police.
The arrested individuals have been transported in police prisoner vans and all routes leading to the area have been blocked with containers by the police.
Containers have also been placed at the city’s main entry and exit points leading to heavy traffic jams causing trouble to the residents. Additionally all the major roads have been turned into one way lanes along with an increase in police patrols.
Additional containers and blockades have been placed at crucial intersections and landmarks of the city like Zero Point Bridge leaving only two lanes usable for ongoing traffic.
Heavy police presence has been made at Faizabad where water cannons and tear gas has been properly equipped. The protests have turned so nasty that the on ground police have been armed with 10000 shells of tear gas in case of emergency.
3 government hospitals in the area have been asked to be on standby and ready for emergency patients till Monday to handle any mishaps if the situation arises while tackling the protests.
