The former Pakistani seamer Mohammad Amir has signed a statement that he fully backs Pakistan to beat India in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pointing at the recent ODIs series wins against Australia and South Africa, Amir stressed that these results prove Pakistan’s superiority going into the tournament.
India and Pakistan’s match is expected to be held on 23 February in Dubai, a neutral ground put in place after India declined to visit Pakistan citing security issues. The recent history also gives Pakistan added confidence hoping to extend their dominance over India in the Champions Trophy that has seen them triumph in three of the five previous matches. But, India’s side has been quite dominant in the T20 format especially in the grounds of Dubai where they have lost only one match in the recently concluded 2021 T20 World Cup.
Amir also stressed about the non-availability of Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah due to injury as a big blow for Indian bowling. Bumrah, who is still being treated at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, is still in doubt. Another setback on the Indian side was commented by Amir who said, “India suffers 40-50% loss when Bumrah is not there.”
But at the same time as Pakistan arrives at the tournament on a high, Amir had only good things to say about India, and even revealed that in all world events, he supports the Indian team. Champions Trophy 2025 is to start from 19th Feb and these two cricketing nations are heading towards each other.
