Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United in the heart-stopping Eliminator 2 clash of the PSL 2022 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Lahore is set to meet Multan in the final game on Sunday.
The do-or-die match between LQ and IU was a staggering see-saw battle. Both the teams were unwilling to give up, as fans saw one of the most scintillating games in the history of PSL.
Islamabad’s Paul Sterling smacked Shaheen Shah Afridi for 14 runs in his first over. But Afridi roared back brilliantly as he dismissed him and Will Jacks in his 3rd over.
Haris Rauf took the catches on both occasions.
Shadab Khan was dismissed for 14, and Liam Dawson for 12 runs. At this point, the Qalandars were in the driver’s seat.
But after that, Alex Hales and Azam Khan forged a 79-run partnership which brought Islamabad United back into the game. They both played sensibly, and it looked like the game went in United’s pocket.
However, an unbelievable effort brought Lahore into the game when Azam got out of Rauf’s brilliant direct hit.

Hales was removed after Azam when Kamran Ghulam got a great catch off Rauf’s bowling.
The topsy-turvy game saw another twist when Asif Ali got the reprieve as Afridi dismissed him but overstepped. Asif Ali then hit a six to bring the game closer. He was dismissed by Rauf for 25 runs.
Eight runs were needed in the last over with Wasim Khan on strike, but David Wiese held his nerves. Khan was run out, and Waqas Ali was caught at the boundary as David Wiese picked the last wicket.
Rauf was brilliant with 2-31 in four overs, Afridi took 2-32 in four overs, and Zaman Khan took two wickets.
While batting first, Lahore gave United a 169-run target.
Lahore got off to the worst possible start as Fakhar Zaman was removed by Dawson, who bowled a brilliant spell.
