According to the Met Office, Cold winds are likely to blow through Karachi from December onwards. The statement makes it to the news as mainly hot and dry weather is forecast for the metropolis. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature was 15 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was 34 degrees Celsius on Thursday. On the other hand, the humidity has kept hovering around 50%.
Meanwhile, the average temperature is set to stay between 16.5 and 32.5 degrees Celsius for the coming two weeks of November, whereas cold weather is likely to impact Karachi by the second week of December, and during that time, the temperature will likely come down to 12 degrees Celsius.
“This year won’t be any different. This has been the scenario in Karachi for the past two years,” said the DG Met.
According to media reports, Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will remain cold and dry during the next 24 hours.
Lately, Karachi has also witnessed ‘unhealthy’ levels of pollution, which the meteorological department said would continue for some time, pushing health experts to warn that these weather conditions could cause several infections. Moreover, people should avoid exposing themselves to such air quality to prevent ‘lasting effects’.
The weather experts and officials said it was an impact of change in the wind direction, confidently adding that although it was ‘very unhealthy’, it was not an abnormal or a new phenomenon.
