Tasneem Haider’s Accusations
Tasneem Haider Shah has been called by the investigators looking into the assassination attempt on PTI Chairman Imran Khan to request proof of his assertions that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was involved in the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif and the attempt on Mr. Khan’s life.
Videos from Mr. Shah’s press conference began making the rounds on social media two days ago. He made the accusations against Mr. Sharif while posing as the PML- N spokesperson N’s in London and that he had asked for his help to “order gunmen” to kill Mr. Khan and Mr. Sharif.
Attack on Imran Khan in Wazirabad
The joint investigation team (JIT), established to look into the attack on Mr. Khan in Wazirabad, has now requested that Mr. Shah provide proof against the PML-N leader.
An official with knowledge of the situation told Dawn that the JIT telephoned Mr. Shah in London in the wake of his “shocking press conference.”
Mr. Shah has previously stated that he was prepared to record his statement for the Pakistani authorities.
Cheif Minister of Punjab and Leader of PTI
The official stated that Mr. Shah received a follow-up call late on Sunday from Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, who is the head of the JIT. This came shortly after Omar Sarfraz Cheema, an advisor to the chief minister of Punjab and a leader of the PTI, had contacted Mr. Shah to introduce CCPO Dogar.

The JIT leader requested him to travel to Pakistan to record a statement before the panel in accordance with Section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after raising concerns about his accusations (Cr.PC).
Shah’s Excuse
However, Mr. Shah excused himself from traveling to the nation because, according to the official, he had been labeled as a proclaimed offender in criminal charges filed in the Gujrat district.
The official added that CCPO Dogar then volunteered to record the statement by video call from London, and that both parties then decided to continue their conversation over the phone.
Allegations put the PML-N on the defensive.
PML-N-Led Administration
The PML-N-led administration has been “jolted” by the claims, which come as the PTI chairman has been roundly criticizing it.
The claims came at a time when the PTI leadership was criticising the government after Mr. Khan accused senior intelligence officials Maj. Gen. Faisal Naseer, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of being involved in the attempted assassination.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the information minister, requested Mr. Shah to provide evidence before the JIT on Sunday.
