Locally Assembled Jaecoo J5 Electric SUV Revealed In Pakistan

Jaecoo J5 electric SUV

The Jaecoo J5 electric SUV has been revealed in Pakistan in completely knocked-down form, adding a fully electric option beside the hybrid J5 already sold in the market. The circulating specification describes a Premium Plus front-wheel-drive crossover with a 58.89 kWh battery and a 155 kW motor.

Jaecoo J5 Electric SUV Arrives in Pakistan

No Pakistani price has been announced, and the model is revealed rather than launched. The official OMODA & JAECOO Pakistan website currently lists the Omoda 7 SHS-P, Jaecoo J5 SHS-H, Jaecoo J7 SHS-P, Omoda E5 and Jaecoo J6, so the BEV is one to watch for now.

A CKD reveal shows that local assembly is gaining ground, which usually points towards a lower landed cost than importing finished vehicles. It does not yet confirm pricing, delivery dates or local content, so buyers should wait for official announcements.

Understanding the Range Figures

Several range numbers are circulating, and each depends on its test cycle. The manufacturer publishes 402 km on the WLTP combined cycle, which is the most reliable benchmark. The 461 km NEDC figure is more flattering, while a 392 km number equals the NEDC result multiplied by 0.85, which makes it a conversion rather than a measurement.

For planning, 402 km is a sensible reference, with real-world range closer to 335 km in hot weather at motorway speeds with the air conditioning running. The 601 km city figure is genuine but applies to slow traffic, where electric cars perform best.

Published consumption of 16.5 kWh per 100 km implies about 357 km from the battery, a gap of roughly 12.6% from the WLTP range. Charging losses likely explain the difference, so a sound rule is to budget electricity costs on the higher consumption figure and plan distances on the lower range figure.

Battery, Charging and Home Readiness

The battery uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry, which tolerates heat well and lasts through many charge cycles, a strong fit for Pakistan’s climate. The motor produces 155 kW, equal to about 208 hp, and the car offers a 480-litre boot plus a 35-litre compartment under the bonnet.

Published fast-charging claims hold up under checking. A 30 to 80% charge in 28 minutes needs an average of about 63 kW, and 10 to 100% in 75 minutes needs about 42 kW, both below the 130 kW peak.

AC charging is listed at up to 11 kW, but that rate needs a three-phase supply. Ordinary homes in Pakistan are single-phase, where about 7.4 kW is the practical ceiling, so an electrician should assess the supply before a home charger is ordered. Charger installation is part of the purchase cost, and many buyers may find it worthwhile to plan this early.

What Buyers Should Watch Next

Dimensions in some reports appear in inches, but conversion suggests metric origins. The wheelbase of 2,620 mm is officially confirmed, while length near 4,380 mm, width near 1,860 mm and ground clearance near 183 mm remain approximate until a Pakistani specification sheet appears.

Buyers should look for an official price list, a written battery warranty, the confirmed charging standard and the location of workshops able to service high-voltage systems. Parts for the hybrid J5 should not be assumed to fit the BEV, since underbody shape and boot floor height can differ.

The wider market is also moving in this direction, supported by BYD’s milestone of 10,000 vehicles in Pakistan and by the auto financing policy aimed at making cleaner vehicles affordable. Buyers weighing options can also look at the Hyundai Tucson N Line unveiled at PAPS 2026, the Haval H6 PHEV booking details and the growing choice of locally assembled hybrid cars. A locally assembled electric crossover with sound hardware is a positive step for Pakistan’s automotive market.
