(C)MEA Tech Watch, huge progress by pakistans communication infrastructure as paksat mm1 satellite becomes operational
Pakistan’s first multi-mission satellite and second communication satellite, PakSat-MM1, has become operational successfully. The development is going to bring a significant transformation to the country’s communication infrastructure.
Different IT sectors across Pakistan can expect huge benefits from the operationalisation of the satellite. PakSat-MM1 is going to provide a number of vital services such as television broadcasting, community internet, and tele-education to promote local industries.
PakSat-MM1 to support Digital Pakistan mission
PakSat-MM1, under the facilitation of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), is also expected to substantially increase internet connectivity in remote areas of Pakistan – eventually supporting the government’s ambitious vision of Digital Pakistan.
The satellite is located at an altitude of 38,786 km above Earth. It features the latest communication equipment that are going to help the entity provide the fastest internet facility in the country, according to media reports.
The five-tonne PakSat-MM1 launched on May 30 by the National Space Agency (Suparco) and reached its Earth orbit on June 5. The solar panels of the satellites have started functioning. Different tests are being performed to check the condition of the satellite in orbit.
