Dr. Bakhshish Singh Sandhu, President of the Council of Khalistan, revealed that the recent tragic assassination of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar has rallied strong support for Khalistan’s independence among the Sikh community.
As the Khalistan Referendum approaches, set to be held at the Shaheed Nijjar Centre, the Sikh community is preparing to cast an unprecedented number of votes. This surge in support follows the heartbreaking murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was fatally shot near a Sikh temple in Surrey, a Vancouver suburb with a substantial Sikh population.
Dr. Sandhu Pointed out that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has publicly Stated in the Canadian Parliament that Nijjar’s killing was Orchestrated by Indian Secret agencies Operating from Indian Consulates in Canada. Notably Several influential Nations including the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have held India Responsible for Nijjar’s Murder and Called for India to be held accountable. Dr. Sandhu added that India has acted in a manner that Disregards international law and infringes on Canada’s sovereignty.
This Tragic event has Brought attention to the Long-standing claims of the Sikh community asserting that India is involved in their Oppression. Sikhs are advocating for a democratic referendum to decide the future of Punjab and the establishment of a separate Sikh homeland, receiving support from prominent world powers.
Avtar Singh Pannu, Coordinator of Sikhs for Justice, highlighted that Nijjar was targeted by agents of Indian secret agencies in an effort to obstruct his work in organizing the Khalistan Referendum in Canada. Nijjar was a vocal proponent of a Sikh homeland in Punjab and delivered his final speech just moments before his untimely death.
