Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reached New York to participate in first United Nations Conference on status of Women in Islam, it would also commend as first International Day to combat Islamophobia in world.
The conference held in UN headquarters in New York would be hosted by Chair of OIC of Ministers. It is the 67th session of UN commission on status of women but it is the first time to discuss about status of Women in Islam.

The Pakistan UN commission explained about the agenda of conference as, “Generally perception is that Islam promotes the oppression of Women but in reality Islam declares that women have right to make their own choices, right to education, right to be involved in politics and social, economic activities”.
The conference would also include points discussing about difficulties faced by Women in securing their basic rigbts in Islamic as well as non-Muslim countries around the world. The Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto will be attending the conference discussing the role of women in Islam.
International day to Combat Islamophobia
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also chair a high level conference on March 10, discussing about increasing Islamphobia on International Day to combat Islamophobia. Pakistan initiated the International day of combatting Islamophobia. It would also chair the conference on March 10 as the chief host.
The conference of women would also initiate new policies to make stronger the role of women in addressing the challenges faced by women around the world. It would also suggest plans and opportunities to advance the role of Women in OIC countries.

The conference would also appreciate and highlight the struggle and bravery of current women leaders and their achievements. The speakers on conference include Malala Yousafzai, Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed, executive director of Muslim Development Organization and OIC.
