Pakistan has successfully test-launched an extended-range version of the indigenously developed Fatah-4 missile test ground-launched cruise missile, marking another notable development in the country’s defence technology capabilities. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the latest test validated upgrades intended to improve precision, range and survivability.

The missile reportedly incorporates advanced avionics and modern navigation systems, enabling engagement of targets at extended ranges with high precision; however, Pakistan has not disclosed the exact range achieved during the latest launch or detailed the specific technical improvements introduced in the updated system.

The latest Fatah-4 test also assessed additional technical parameters associated with various missile subsystems. According to ISPR, the launch demonstrated the effectiveness of upgrades designed to enhance accuracy and survivability, highlighting the contribution of Pakistani scientists, engineers and defence specialists to the programme.

Senior Pakistan Army officers, alongside scientists and engineers from the developing agency, witnessed the launch. Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, and the services chiefs congratulated the teams involved, while Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the achievement as an important development for the country’s defence sector.

Extended-range Fatah-4 builds on earlier missile test

The latest launch follows Pakistan’s September 30, 2025 Fatah-4 test, when ISPR stated that the missile had a range of 750 kilometres. The earlier system was described as a ground-launched cruise missile capable of flying at low altitude and following terrain, features intended to support precision strike capabilities.

The 2026 test represents a further step in the development of the Fatah-4 platform, although the precise increase in range remains undisclosed. The continued testing programme reflects Pakistan’s emphasis on strengthening indigenous technological capabilities while advancing the accuracy, navigation and survivability of its conventional missile systems.
